Use a Ball-Bearing Swivel

The most important requirement for rigging a Guiley Worm is using a ball-bearing swivel.  The corkscrew action of the Guiley Worm can introduce a lot of twist into your fishing line if you do not use a good quality swivel.  Check the swivel frequently to ensure it is turning freely.  Ball-bearing swivels are available at most stores that carry fishing tackle.

Rigging Options

Split shot rig

Attach a split shot sinker before the ball-bearing swivel.

It is a good idea to experiment with different size split shots.  Changing the split shot affects how fast the worm sinks

Floating rig

Use only a swivel with no sinker.

Carolina rig

Use a large egg sinker and a bead in front of the ball-bearing swivel.

Fishing Tackle

Because it is a light lure, spinning and spin casting tackle works well with the Guiley Worm.  I prefer to use baitcasting tackle with a medium action casting rod.  If you are using a floating rig, you will probably need to use light spinning tackle.
